Downtown Charleston
While there are many diverse areas in the greater Charleston area, Downtown Charleston represents the heart and soul of this quaint city. The 5-mile radius that makes up the downtown area is filled with history, art, tourism, local dining, and more. If you love to be close to the action, there is always something to do downtown. Enjoy live music, shopping, and delicious food on the lively King Street; or walk the cobblestone streets in the French Quarter surrounded by historic architecture and local attractions.
Homes in Downtown Charleston are beautifully preserved. Architectural styles of these homes range from Colonial, Federal, Georgian, and Greek Revival. Houses often come equipped with old wrought iron gates and charming courtyard gardens.
Downtown really is at the center of Charleston, making it a 25-minute drive or less to just about anywhere–from local beaches, to the Charleston International Airport, and more.
Sullivan's Island
Located on the coast of the Charleston Harbor, Sullivan’s Island is a luxury beach town that has managed to retain its small-town feel. Even resident celebrities and TV personalities are treated like locals. With its relaxed beach vibe, you’ll often find residents commuting by golf cart to eat at delectable seafood restaurants or stroll down the white sandy landscape.
Homebuyers will find Sullivan’s Island homes to be Colonial in style, with picturesque oceanfront properties as well as townhomes.
Sullivan’s is approximately 20 minutes from Downtown and 30 minutes from the airport. It is also just a short drive away from modern shops and food chains in Mount Pleasant.
Mount Pleasant
Just across the Ravenel Bridge from Downtown Charleston, is the town of Mt. Pleasant, SC. This large suburban community has been named among one of the Top 50 Places to Live in the U.S. Mount Pleasant is the most developed area in Charleston, offering upscale shopping, pristine golf courses and country clubs, and beautiful plantations.
Housing ranges from townhomes and high-rise condos to high-end luxury homes. Neighborhoods such as Carolina Park, Rivertowne, Scott's Creek, and Dunes West offer many new homes as well as vacant land for new construction.
Mount Pleasant is just minutes from local beaches. A commute to the airport could range anywhere from 25-35 minutes depending on the end of town where you reside.
Isle of Palms
Just outside of Mount Pleasant, you'll find the luxurious beach community known as Isle of Palms. The island is Charleston’s hidden gem, with white sandy beaches and a tranquil pace of life. Isle of Palms (or IOP, as the locals call it), is home to Wild Dunes Resort, featuring a 36-hole golf course, tennis courts, and more.
Beach-front homes on IOP are highly sought after for obvious reasons. Homes on Isle of Palms are all luxurious, ranging from traditional and contemporary style, to Victorians and villas.
Isle of Palms is situated 20 minutes from downtown, and less than 10 minutes from both Sullivan’s Island and the town of Mt. Pleasant.
